Due date for NRCS Conservation Innovation Grants (CIG).  The CIG is an opportunity to stimulate the adoption of conservation approaches or technologies that have been studied sufficiently to indicate a likelihood of success.  CIG's will deal with 5 natural resource concerns this year, to obtain more information about CIG's and if you are elligible, visit www.nrcs.usda.gov/programs/cig/index.html.

USFS Forestry Camp, sponsored by the Cuba SWCD.  Forestry Camp is an opportunity for kids age 14-18 to experience careers in forestry, range management, and natural resources.  Camp will be held at Rancho del Chaparral in the Jemez mountains, Cuba, NM.  For more information contact Marsha Hagerton at (505) 287-8833.

Adapted Riparian Management in Arid Systems Workshop.  The topics focus on applied wetland and riparian restoration and management.  Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, near Socorro, NM.  Begins at 8am on the 8th, and wraps up at noon on the 10th.  This workshop is FREE, but it limited to 25 participants and registration is due JUNE 1st!!!  For more information contact NMDA at www.nmdaweb.nmsu.edu.

 WERC Environmental Education Workshop, Silver City, NM.  Students and teachers team up to research and develop new ways of looking at issues in conservation.  This years topics include land ethics and stewardship, watershed ecology of the Gila River, and Forestry and Fire ecology of the SW.

2  School Board Bi-Weekly Meeting, 6pm at the McKinley County School Board Office, Gallup.  The SWCD will be on hand to help present a resolution that would incorporate more water conservation education into the cirriculum.
3  Neighborhood Association's "Night Out" community party, 7-9pm at Ford Canyon Park in Gallup.  The SWCD will collaborate with the Gallup renewable resources group to have a demonstration on rainwater harvesting and xeriscaping.  We will also have a free xeric plant giveaway!
5-8 83rd Annual Gallup Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial, the largest annual event in Gallup and the oldest running ceremonial in the USA.
