Canada Thistle
Cardaria draba
Canada Thistle, like the knapweeds, is a creeping perennial that forms dense populations as a result of its horizontal, branching roots. It is characterized by its small flower heads (.5 inch) that are often purple or lavender, but sometimes white. Another major characteristic of Canada Thistle is that the male and female flowers are borne on separate plants, and can reproduce asexually.
